Clinical Laboratory Testing
Clinical laboratory testing
Clinical tests are today carried out for different purposes, such as diagnosis of diseases, identification of clinical conditions, decision about treatment policy, monitoring of disease progression, and health checkups.
In the clinical laboratory testing business, we perform analyses of specimens taken from patients under contract. These samples are collected from hospitals, clinics, and other medical institutions, and the analyses are conducted using our advanced technologies under our strict quality assurance system, with the test results then reported.
Currently, SRL performs more than 200,000 tests each day on specimens consigned by medical institutions across the country.
To deliver all of these test results while maintaining the highest quality, SRL has independently developed boxes for transporting specimens at specific preservation temperatures and a laboratory automation system that encompasses all processes from the receipt of specimens to the reporting of results.
SRL performs not only general testing but also esoteric testing in a wide range of areas, such as endocrinology, oncology, plasma protein disorders, virology, immunoserology, immunohematology, blood coagulation system, biochemistry, drug analysis, genetics, human leukocyte antigen (HLA), cellular immunity, pathology, cytodiagnosis, and medical scientific analysis.
The Group's network
Since its foundation in 1970, SRL has been focusing on esoteric testing, expanding its market chiefly among university, national hospitals, and other large hospitals. With a nationwide network of over 80 sales offices, it consistently maintains its technical and academic capabilities at a high level to respond to requests and inquiries from doctors.
Meanwhile, general testing including prompt reporting service has become available through SRL’s main regional laboratories. In April 2010, Japan Clinical Laboratories, Inc. became a subsidiary of SRL, which boasts a solid customer base comprising mainly general practitioners and clinics in the Kansai region (in southwestern Japan). SRL also acquired two regional players, HOKUSHIN Clinical Laboratory, Inc. and GUNMA Clinical-Laboratory Information Center Inc. in 2011.
Thus, as Japan’s largest commercial laboratory, SRL has established the requisite corporate structure and nationwide laboratory network to deal with clinical testing in every category from general/emergency testing to esoteric/research testing.
